FAQ
Questions and answers
Subscription opt-out / Can I still maintain my projects?
Yes, sometimes situations occur where you will not continue developing with CDP Studio or you have completed your CDP Studio projects. You can then opt out by cancelling your subscription renewal and you can then request a CDP Studio maintenance license.
The maintenance license allows you to maintain your developed products and projects with the CDP Studio version you received under the subscription period. You will not receive new CDP Studio updates or support.
To qualify for the maintenance license, a minimum of 12 months paid subscription is required. The maintenance license is applicable for CDP Studio and CDP Framework version 4.0 (released in 2016) and newer.
Which payment options do you have?
We have 3 options depending on your commitment and payment frequency:
- Commit monthly and pay monthly
- Commit yearly and pay monthly
- Commit yearly and pay yearly
Payment can be made with a credit card for all options.
For the yearly payments, you can also choose to pay by bank transfer.
To pay annually, please fill in the form and you will receive a quote with bank transfer details or a credit card payment link: Annual payment sign up form

What is the free trial version?
The free trial runs for 30 days and allows you to evaluate the CDP Studio and experience how easy it is to develop control systems. The trial version is fully featured with the following restrictions:
- A CDP Studio runtime application will run for one hour, and then it will terminate. It can be manually re-started.
- It is not possible to connect to commercial systems or deploy system over a remote network.
- It is not permitted to use a CDP Studio with a trial license for any commercial purpose.
What is the Universities, Education and Research non-commercial version?
We offer universities, educational institutions, and some research institutions free use of CDP Studio for non-commercial teaching and projects. For universities and schools that use CDP Studio, we offer a cooperation agreement that gives access to support for the staff/employees.
Please contact us for further information. To download and get a free license, see the Q&A “What is the Home non-commercial version?” below.
What is the Home non-commercial version?
CDP Studio is free for home users for non-commercial projects. You get full access to the IDE and Framework features.
CDP Studio supports Raspberry Pi out of the box and includes protocols as I2C, GPIO, MQTT and OPC UA.
A 30-day trial license is automatically granted when you download CDP Studio. To continue to use CDP Studio you need to request a CDP Studio non-commercial license.
A non-commercial license is requested from CDP Studio. Select Help -> License Manager and follow the instructions and a license key will be sent by e-mail.
Applications you create with CDP Studio requires a runtime license if the application is required to run for more than 1 hour. Unlicensed it will run for 1 hour and when restarted the application will run for another hour.
If your project is not required to run for more than 1 hour, you do not need to request a runtime license for the application.
To overcome the 1-hour limitation, you need to ask for a runtime license. Runtime licenses are requested in CDP Studio in the Configure Mode -> Deploy configuration tab. For more information on requesting and licensing applications, see CDP Studio -> Help Mode -> Licensing.
When the license is granted it becomes available in CDP Studio and you may license the application with a non-commercial runtime license.
To receive runtime licenses, you need to provide a link to a public repository (e.g. GitHub or similar) where the project is uploaded and a short description of what the project is about. The project description in the public repository must mention that CDP Studio was used to create the project.
